I have not finished the book Nineteen Minutes yet, but I have really enjoyed it very much. I would recommend this book for anyone. It is very good, and it grabs your attention from the very first page of the book. I would recommend the book Nineteen Minutes because it is a very heart warming story of the rough times of high school, which everyone has been through, and how far one kid went just to get back at people. The book may seem long, but it goes by a very fast.

I am hoping in the end of the book, it really ties all of the dead and wounded people from the school shooting together. It also ties Peter Houghton together with them, he was the school shooter, but really the kids at school were the ones that made him commit the crime. They were so mean to him, and his brother Joey, was the start of it all. He had died a year before the school shooting had happened, but he was the start of the bullying. Peter told his lawyer that the ten people he had killed, just got in the way, the one person he really wanted to kill...Was himself.

If you really want to find out what happens you should read the book for sure!

If i could rewrite a part of Nineteen Minutes, it would be the part when Josie is in the hospital and finds out what really happened that day. When she wakes up in the hospital she is thinking that she has gotten into a car accident on the way to school with Matt, but thinks everyone is alright. When the police officer is there to question her, he has to tell her what really happened. Then Josie goes into a panic attack, because the officer has to tell her that Matt has died in the school shooting. It is a very sad and emotional part in the book. Josie does not know how to react when she is really told the news. I really wished that her mother would have told her and not the officer. I think Josie would have expected Alex, her mother, to tell her what had really happened.

After everything has happened with the school shooting, they have a suspect. Peter Houghton. One of Josie's old friends. Well use to be friends, now after all that has happened. Peter is in jail and waiting to stand trial. That is all we really find out about Peter, besides that he has planned this out for a very long time. He says to his lawyer, in jail, that they had done it to him and he was just getting back at them. Them being everyone in school, he says. They always made fun of him, and never really understood him. The only person who did was his older brother, Joey. Who died a year before the school shooting happened by a drunk driver.

Now it has been awhile after the school shooting has happened. The school is relocating for the rest of the year. Josie is ready to go back, but is sad, and also scared just to be back in school. Josie's friend Drew came to pick her up on the first day of school. They both lost the ones that they loved, and now just really have each other. Drew has given Josie one of Matt's baseball caps, that Matt had left in Drew's car the other day before the shooting. They both start to cry, just because they both lost a very close friend. Drew says something to Josie about how are they the lucky ones. Why are they the only ones left to live their lives. Josie does not have any answers to that. She is just wondering the same thing herself. This is really all I have read in the book from the other summary.

In the book Nineteen Minutes Alex one of the main characters is pregnant, and is having the baby by herself, with the help of her friend/midwife Lucy Houghton. Lucy is the mother of Peter, the same age as Josie, Alex's daughter. Josie and Peter are best friends, until second grade. They are still friends inside of school until almost seventh grade. Then Josie becomes friends with the "popular" group at school, and just leaves Peter to be on his own now during school. Then when they are in high school, at Sterling High in Sterling, New Hampshire, Peter does the unthinkable thing. He goes to the high school armed with four guns, and does a school shooting, killing ten, and wounding many others. He is caught before he can do much other damage. Josie and her boyfriend Matt are in the locker rooms when Peter comes into the gym, before Peter can kill Josie she passes out and hits her head on the bench in the locker room. When she wakes up she remembers nothing of what happened that day, and does not know that Matt was killed in the school shooting. Alex is the lead court judge, so therefore she will be the head judge of this trail. Alex is willing to try this case fairly and with the duty that she has to do as a judge. Her and Josie's bond has become much stronger within the last few days after the school shooting has happened. Josie has lost everything in her life really, she has lost her best friends, and Matt. Alex and Josie go to Matt's funeral, and it is a very emotional time for Josie. That is as far as I have gotten in the book Nineteen Minutes.

Questions:
1. Will Josie ever remember what happened that day?
2. Will Alex get to try the case as the judge or will she be thrown off of it?
3. What is Peter's sentence going to be?

The setting in the book Nineteen Minutes is in a town in North Carolina, called Sterling. Sterling has a college in the town, Sterling College. The time period of the book is in 2007. The author tells you the time period, because the first chapter in the book is the day of the school shooting. Which happens to be March 6, 2007. The socioeconomic of this book, I think would be in the middle class. The Cormier's are not the wealthiest people in the world, but Alex makes a living for them. The others in the book would probably fit into the middle class also. This book does not really focus on the wealth of the characters in it.

The two main characters in my book are Josie and Alex. Alex is Josie's mother.

Alex is a judge and is superior court judge of Grafton County. She is always late to things, and always busy doing things for work. She has a daughter named Josie that is a senior in high school. Alex had Josie when she was young and her trail advocacy professor, Logan Rourke. He was a married man, and they were having an affair. He left her when he found out that she was pregnant, and told her to get rid of the baby. He told her that because the already had a family and did not want another one. Alex was going to have an abortion, she had scheduled one and forgot to write down the date, and time. She rescheduled the appointment, but it conflicted with her final exam. In the end she did not get an abortion, she thought it was a sign that twice she missed her appointments, so she decided to keep the baby. She is a direct character, because the author comes out to tell us about her. She is one of the main characters that is always in the book, because her daughter was involved in the school shooting and she is the superior judge of the county. That is the main role of Alex Cormier.

Josie Cormier is a senior at Sterling High School. She is a very pretty girl, who thinks her life is all wrong and is living in a world she does not belong in. Josie has been stealing her mother's drugs to kill herself one day. She does not get the chance to do it because her boyfriend comes over that day before school. She is dating Matt, the caption of the Sterling High School. When they get to school they go to class and when it is time for lunch they sit down with all of their friends. Josie feels like she doesn't belong with them, then her and Matt leave the lunch room before the shooter comes in. They are in the locker room when they get shot. Josie passes out when Peter, the shooter, comes in. She hits her head on the bench, and is carried out by the police officer. When she is in the hospital she does not remember anything that has happened, she does not remember that Matt has died. She is an indirected character, because the author does not come out a tell about her. You read on and the author has her mother tell about Josie. That makes her an indirect character in the book. She is one of the main characters, because she is in the school shooting. And that her mother is the judge of the county.

Those are the two main characters in the book Nineteen Minutes. There is many more characters just because of the school shooting.

Nineteen Minutes Blog one

I have chosen the book Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult. I chose this book because I have read other books by her and have loved them. The most of the book is about how Alex one of the main characters is pregnant and is going to have the baby on her own. She raises the baby, Josie. When Josie is grown up and in high school, there is a school shooting where she goes to school at. Josie and her boyfriend are in the locker room when the shooter comes in and Josie gets shot in the head, and her boyfriend, Matt, is shot and killed. When the police officer finds Josie she is still breathing. She lives until she gets to the hospital. Then the book goes back to how her mom got pregnant when she was an intern. She is now a very good lawyer. That is all the farther i have gotten in the book, Nineteen Minutes.
